“Matter in Flux” is a collaborative body of work with Kathie Halfin. We deal with our bodies as active agents that fully heighten their vulnerabilities and thus seek empathy and connection with forms of life that are alienated: whether it is us, the environment, ecosystems, organisms, matter. Through our work we seek to consciously acknowledge that matter is vibrant and active and most importantly that humans are not at the center. Through performance we seek to create new actions and language that highlight our agency, vulnerability and labor. We examine the multiple roles that we inhabit as female immigrants and construct fictional and re-imagined narratives that challenge and subvert existing dysfunctional ones.
